My favorite cracker appetizer since forever!
My friend happened to visit me the same day I made this pumpkin rice pudding. The trifle is great in itself but I wanted to make something more. You know how it is when you are expecting guests at your place, you just can’t settle for one thing.
With less time on hand, I couldn’t attempt making something elaborate. So, I quickly made this cream cheese cracker appetizer with stuff I already had at home. And they turned out pretty awesome!!! Since then I have been making it quite often.
This recipe is so easy and convenient to make as an after school snack or whenever hunger strikes. Simply season some cream cheese and slather it generously over the crackers. Top it with some chopped cucumber for a fresh delicious crunch.
How do I make these cheese crackers in 10 minutes?
- I had cucumber, pomegranate, and Philadelphia full-fat cream cheese in my fridge. So, I peeled and chopped cucumber.
- Pomegranate perils were already ready as I had peeled and de-seeded them early that morning.
- I grabbed some Ritz crackers from the cabinet.
- Popped the cream cheese in the microwave for 10 seconds to loosen up. (You may leave it over the counter until it softens).
- Then I added my favorite Italian Seasoning, black pepper, and salt to it.
- Instead of just smearing it on the crackers I decided to pipe it.
- Put the toppings on it and viola it was all ready to serve.
- This simple appetizer turned out very addictive.
Pro tip –
- Use softened cream cheese for easing piping. Keep it at room temperature for 1 hour or carefully soften it in the microwave for 10 seconds.
- This appetizer recipe is very customizable and doesn’t get soggy for hours. You can make it up to 3 hours ahead of time and store it covered in a cool place or refrigerate it.
Possible other toppings for crackers.
Other recommended toppings that go well with cream cheese-
- Chopped red bell peppers, green peppers, chives, apples, candied nuts.
- Strawberries or raspberries are excellent choices too.
Make it gluten-free
Make sure to use gluten-free crackers. Rest remains the same.
Turn it Vegan
Instead of dairy cream-cheese use a non-dairy one.
Make it healthier
Use your choice of whole grain or grain-free baked crackers and turn it into a delicious healthy snack.
